I’ve always really valued how a space can make you feel, so my hope in creating Mt. Pleasant Counselling was to build a beautiful, warm and welcoming space for both counsellors and clients.

For the past 8 years, I’ve been seeing individuals with a wide range of concerns including anxiety, depression, life transitions, emotional or physical trauma (PTSD), and general life stress. My education and practice has been focused around therapeutic approaches that are evidence based and trauma-informed, such as EMDR, Mindfulness/Mindful Self-Compassion, Internal Family Systems and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).

My goal is to help you feel safe, supported and ultimately empowered to make the changes you want to see in your life.

Available Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Rates are $130 per 50 minute session.

Heather Scott

Heather is currently not accepting new clients

For the past decade, I've been seeing individuals with a wide range of concerns, generally resulting from complex trauma and post-traumatic stress.  I support clients to gain control over big emotions, feel more calm and present in their own bodies, identify needs and set boundaries in relationships, and manage compulsive and addictive behaviours.  My education and practice are rooted in complex trauma theory and the latest research in interpersonal neuroscience.  I'm focused on using evidence-based approaches aimed at connecting mind and body, including EMDR, Mindfulness and other body-based and expressive therapies.

My goal is to create a strong and safe therapeutic relationship within which you feel empowered and supported to make positive change and achieve personal growth.

Available Wednesdays and Thursdays. Rates are $135 per 50 minute session.

Reaching out when you’re struggling can often feel like a scary first step towards change. I am here to demystify the counseling process and am dedicated to facilitating a counseling experience that is non-judgmental, compassionate and rooted in the belief that you are a whole, unique, person, who holds the knowledge within to work through whatever is challenging you.

For the past six years, I have worked with teens (and their supports) and adults, dealing with a range of challenges including anxiety, depression, disordered eating, bullying, life transitions, substance use, trauma and general life stressors.

As a counselor, I bring a sense of humor, empathy and straightforwardness to my work. My therapeutic approach is Narrative and Client Centered and I borrow from strategies that are evidence based and trauma informed, including Mindfulness, Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

My ultimate goal is to create a safe and non-judgmental space where we can get curious and work together to create meaningful change.

Available Mondays. Rates are $130 per 50 minute session.

Sometimes we find ourselves in a place where we feel stuck. Maybe we can see where we want to go but we can’t seem to navigate our way there. Or perhaps we are struggling with uncertainty about which way it is we want to go. My aim is to help you to become reacquainted with you, and to reconnect you with those things that bring meaning into your day, provide you a centred foundation, and allow you to move forward in your life mindfully and with confidence.

For the past 8 years I have worked in multiple community mental health programs and private practice with individuals, couples and families. Using a humanistic approach, my practice is informed by various evidence-based modalities including Mindfulness, DBT and CBT.  My experience is largely in the areas of depression, anxiety, interpersonal/relationship conflict, addictions, trauma, anger management, life transitions, grief & loss, emotion regulation, and communication.

Whatever it is that has elicited your interest in counselling, know that you will be greeted with a safe, compassionate, and non-judgmental environment.  And one that includes the right amount of laughter.

I look forward to meeting you!

Available Mondays and Fridays. Rates are $130 per 50 minute session.

Alexandria Parsons

Alexandria is currently not accepting new clients.

For the past ten years, I have worked with youth and adults from all backgrounds addressing a variety of life concerns including: depression, anxiety, boundary setting, substance use, healthy relationships, intimacy, recovery from self-criticism and perfectionism, relationship and career transitions, trauma, grief and loss, secondary trauma and caregiver burnout, and gender and sexual identity exploration.

My work with individuals is influenced by a feminist therapy framework, which means that I strive to see your concerns in context, without judging or pathologizing. I believe that the behaviours individuals struggle with often came about because they were at one point useful, and that the best path towards change lies in finding the strengths and wisdom in what you're already doing.

In our work together, I aim to bring my real self into the counselling room and to work together to cultivate a greater kindness, compassion, and understanding for yourself and your circumstances, as you move towards wholeness and wellness.

Available Monday to Friday for online/telephone sessions. Available Friday for in office sessions. Rates are $130 per 50 minute individual counselling session.

Deciding you’re ready to find a therapist is a huge step towards growth and healing, and I would be honoured to be alongside you in this process. As a therapist, my goal is to provide you with an environment where you can grow and heal while feeling heard, supported, and safe. I hope to cultivate the proper conditions for you to fully explore your experiences and help you navigate difficulties in your life that may be holding you back.

Throughout my career, I have worked with clients with diverse concerns, mainly rooted in past traumas or attachment ruptures. My experience ranges from supporting those with anxiety and depression, emotional and behavioural concerns, life transitions, substance use, psychedelic integration, violence towards women, various forms of complex trauma, childhood trauma and abuse, Post-Traumatic Stress Injuries (PTSD) and dissociation.

My education and foundations are rooted in evidence-based mind-body approaches that include Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness practices. I prioritize my continued education so that I’m able to adapt the way I work to my client's needs. I have a service dog in training, Lassie, a golden retriever who may join for sessions unless otherwise specified prior (fear or allergies).

My current availability is Mondays and Tuesdays starting in February 2021, expanding to Wednesdays and Thursdays beginning in March 2021.

My rates are $150 per 50 min session and $200 for 80 min sessions. I am currently seeing clients online and in person.

Annie Newman

My name is Annie Newman and I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC).  For the past few years my focus area of counselling has been very specific in working with adoptive families: mainly teenage adoptees.  There has been a lot of work around identity, loss, trauma, relationship building, boundaries and self-esteem.  I have also had the privilege of working in community counselling through The Children’s Foundation, where I was able to work with families: implementing family counselling strategies, parental skills, forming attachment, communication and building relationships.

I’m excited to walk with you through whatever you’re going through. My focuses are: identity, transitions and anxiety. I come with a person-centered approach, while using different skills, techniques and therapies such as EMDR, Life Span Integration Level 1, CBT and attachment theory.

My hope for my clients is that they feel comfortable, safe, valued, and heard.  I also hope my clients are able to step into their full potential, while learning how to learn and grow from past discomforts.

Available Saturdays in person for 50 minute individual sessions @ $130.00 (tax included)
